Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish production lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Situations

These UAVs utilize a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones daily.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six individuals were killed and many others wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv just after midnight on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Military commanders in Kyiv stated its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces additionally targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

International Sanctions Affect Russian Oil Producer

The number two oil producer Lukoil announced this past Friday it has been in talks with interested parties regarding its international holdings following last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements are to be disclosed once the final agreements are completed and required authorizations have been obtained,” the company commented.
