The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from Critical Role, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that something was lost in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition created by artist the talented musician. It's a track from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I suspect that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and fun. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some surprises and differences from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
