Oscar-Nominated Star Diane Ladd, Famed For Her Role in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Passes Away at Age 89.

The award-nominated actor the celebrated Diane Ladd passed away at the age of 89.

This star, with filmography included Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, passed away at home at her Ojai, California home. This announcement was announced in a statement from her child, Academy Award-winning star Laura Dern.

Dern, who appeared with her mother in a number of films including Wild at Heart, called her “my incredible hero and my precious gift being my mom”, noting that she was at her bedside during her final moments.

“She was the greatest grandmother, mother, daughter, star, artist along with empathetic spirit that seemed almost dreamlike,” she stated. “We were fortunate to know her. She is flying with her angels now.”

Initial Roles and Breakthrough

The start of her career featured minor parts in TV shows like Perry Mason and the 1970s featured her performing with the legendary Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.

In the same year, 1974, she appeared with actress Ellen Burstyn in the Martin Scorsese praised comedy drama Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Her role earned Ladd her initial Oscar nod in the supporting actress category.

Later Decades
