Bills' Bay Day Opens New England Path to Top Spot - Best of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many people into the NFL
That result may have opened things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an edge over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City the previous week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Bills to answer
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third period and initial scoring in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5-yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the pair from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute drive yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that the Dolphins converted to a touchdown just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad from the situation - not the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've seen this season
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the start of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll require an instant response in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers next week as the New England are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the top of the AFC East
Spotlight - Patriots Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the Patriots, they're one of three 8-2 squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the top team?
One could pick holes in New England, Denver and the Colts really for feasting on the lesser sides, with only five of their total twenty-four wins coming against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime success in Buffalo appears to be a statement
Their two defeats came in new head coach Mike Vrabel's initial three games, with seven straight wins, just like Denver, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to get ready was significant
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials continue to be discussed, and he certainly deserves credit for courage after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to victory
The defense is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to exceed 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to finish with the top record due to their schedule - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a huge one against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Packers on the schedule
The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There is a long way to travel but the opportunity is available for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Set for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with solid claims to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are National Football Conference West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored forty points to reach 7-2 ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in Los Angeles
They've both won four in a row, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a contest
Each could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly among the best sides in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season to date
Player of the Week - Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a historic year after his incredible display in Germany - rushing for 244 yards, registering three scores and contributing an additional forty-two {receiving yards
